The Free Rangers: ??? Some. Not sure how many. But definitely some.

The Last Remaining Original Chicken: 1. Name pending.

The New Girls: 5. And they are good girls. They eat their corn and stay put. And they’ve got the L.R.O.C. (see above) to show them around the henhouse.

You’re looking at a photo of The Last Remaining Original Chicken aka The Only Good Chicken.   The henhouse door was open for about a week and she refused to leave and join her free range friends.  We’re sponsoring a contest to name her.  Interesting chicken-themed prize promised to the winner.  Submit your suggestions in the comments field.

As of last Sunday, we’re down to one chicken in the henhouse.  I was not home when this occurred.  Anna says to make it clear that she was not home either.

Chicken count: 2 in the henhouse, minus some flight-necessary feathers, 2 in housing of their own choosing, 2 missing

Persuaded the parents to come over to clip the wings of chickens 1 and 2 (you know, the good chickens.  The ones that live inside the henhouse).  Two of the “free-range” chickens decided to hang out with us a bit.

See below:  my father and his attempt to persuade the chickens to return.

Morning

Rachel to cat: “You’re only allowed to go outside if you promise to bring back a

chicken.”

Anna: “Yeah, like that one right …there in the tree.” (Points out window to tree in front of house, where chicken (#3?) is roosting 20 feet up).

Rachel: “Seriously?”

Evening
